Square-Enix’s ghostly detective action game sees you attempting to solve your own murder and capture a brutal serial killer. After being thrown out of a window and shot multiple times, Detective Ronan O’Connor must use his newly acquired supernatural powers to track down the mysterious Bell Killer.

Murdered: Soul Suspect mixes together traditional third person gameplay and ghostly powers to deliver an all new kind of experience. Whether it can stand out against today’s more action packed titles remains to be seen.

13th June 2014

Enemy Front (PS3/360/PC)

EF_E3_screen_3

It’s been a while since we had a World War 2 based shooter and this month sees two. First up is Enemy Front, which features real historical events. In the game, you play as an American war correspondent trapped behind enemy lines and joining up with various resistance groups in the likes of Norway and Poland.

Describing itself as ‘the first truly modern WW2 FPS’, Enemy Front allows you to choose your approach to each situation – either go in all guns blazing, snipe from afar or just stealth your way through unnoticed.. The game also features four multiplayer modes, including deathmatch and team deathmatch.

17th June 2014

EA Sports UFC (PS4/XBO)

New-UFC-Game-Will-Run-at-1080p-at-30-FPS-on-Xbox-One-and-PS4-says-EA-Canada-394715-2

EA’s first official UFC title releases this month and it certainly looking the part. EA has such faith in the MMA title that it has put its successful Fight Night series on hold while it focuses on UFC titles.

Making use of EA’s new Ignite engine the game looks glorious, and with an AI system that adapts to players fighting styles, this could be the most realistic MMA titles ever produced. There’s also a demo available now for you to check out on both PS4 and Xbox One

27th June 2014

GRID Autosport (PS3/360/PC)

sanfran_02

sniper-elite-3

The second WWII based shooter this month takes the fight to the North African front. Sniper Elite 3 sees you face off against the infamous Afrika Korps and their artillery of tanks, armed with your trusty sniper rifle.

The Buyers Guide To May

After a couple of quiet weeks, it seems the games industry has gone mad again and decided to release a whole host of big hitting games in the few short weeks that make up the month of May.

So here’s a brief round up of some of the biggest games trying to tempt those precious pennies from your bank account.

2nd May 2014

Mario Golf: World Tour (3DS/2DS)

mario-golf-world-tour-goes-under-the-sea-L-w2jA08

Mario is back and this time, he’s brought his Golf clubs as Mario Golf: World Tour makes its way onto the 3DS. Play as a whole host of characters from all over the Mushroom Kingdom across a set of traditional and Mario themed courses. Mario Golf: World Tour offer a surprisingly deep golfing experience while also catering for players after a more casual golf game.

The Amazing Spiderman 2 (360/Xbox One/PS3/PS4/WiiU/PC/3DS)

The-Amazing-Spider-Man-2013-PS-Vita-Too-Late

It’s been a long time since we’ve had a good Spiderman game (which, incidentally, was also the last good movie tie-in game). Perennial Spiderman team Beenox are hoping their movie-based game can capture some of the elements that made the PS2 Spiderman 2 game so good. With improved web swinging and combat systems, things do look promising.

7th May 2014

Peggle 2 (360)

peggle2_update_ss5

Finally Xbox 360 owners can get their Peggle on as Peggle 2 makes its way onto the Microsoft’s older console. Featuring more Peggle Masters with brand new skills, Peggle 2 offers up more of the insanely addictive and joy inducing gameplay the series has become known for. Expect it to release on more platforms soon.

The God of War Collection (Vita)

original

Didn’t this come out already several times? This God of War collection brings Greece’s angriest man’s first two PS2 adventures to Sony’s portable handheld for the first time. Complete with enhanced visuals and full trophy support, this latest Kratos compilation allows you to do your angry shouting wherever you travel.

9th May 2014

Bound By Flame (PS4/PS3/360/PC)

070760a2-1789-4737-bced-1a47cbf08387

Bound By Flame is an action RPG that promises everything you’d expect from – well, an action RPG. Developer Spiders (this is the company name; it wasn’t actually developed by arachnids) is promising an epic 30 hour story , with player choices that affect the storyline. While it’s yet to be seen exactly what Bound By Flame offers that other titles haven’t, the game certainly does look interesting to genre fans so far.

16th May 2014

Kirby: Triple Deluxe (3DS)

Kirby-3DS-Dated-JP

Ever since its release in Japan earlier this year, this 2.5D platformer has received much praise – especially for it’s gorgeous art style and playability. Alongside the core games side scrolling platforming, Triple Deluxe also features a Smash Bros style 4 player fighting game and a rhythm action mini game featuring classic music from the Kirby series.

20th May 2014

Wolfenstein: The New Order (360/Xbox One/PS3/PS4/PC)

wolfenstein-the-new-order-download1

The granddaddy of the modern FPS returns this month, with MachineGames’ take on an alternative history where the Nazi’s triumphed in World War II. Wolfenstein: The New Order attempts to take shooters back to a time when everything was less grimy and serious and reintroduces straight out balls to the wall fun and explosions. While the decision to leave out online multiplayer may erk some, The New Order could hopefully inject some much needed fun into the single player FPS landscape.

Transistor (PS4,PC)

2458505-3592149661-trans

The studio that brought you the excellent Bastion returns with another action RPG. While comparisons with its predecessor are likely to be made, developer Super Giant Games is keen to stress that Transistor is very much its own game – though expect a familiar mix of careful strategy and planning with action heavy combat. With a typical gorgeous art style and a soundtrack that would make much bigger titles blush, Transistor is shaping up to be one of 2014′s most standout downloadable title.

27th May 2014

Watch_Dogs (PS3/PS4/360/Xbox One/PC)

maxresdefault

Finally the game that has wowed the last TWO E3′s is actually getting released. While it’s fair to say that some of the excitement for Ubisoft’s open world hacking title has died down since it’s initial reveal, there is still a lot of attention on this one. Recent trailers have posed questions as to the game’s true graphical quality, but we’re hoping the the fully hackable open city offers up enough unique gameplay opportunities to keep it interesting.

30th May 2014

Mario Kart 8 (Wii-U)

MK8_201403_11

The overworked portly plumber makes two appearances this month. Mario Kart brings all the favourite aspects of the previous games (and ahem…that blue shell) into the HD era, complete with all new anti gravity gameplay. With full local and online co-op and the ability to share your races on the Mii Verse via Mario Kart TV, Mario Kart 8 looks set to continue the series trend as the perfect multiplayer game for Nintendo systems. You can also snag a FREE Wii-U game if you register a copy after launch

How to update your Xbox One controller

Microsoft has finally rolled out its second update for the Xbox One, bringing with it improvements to the party/friends system and Twitch streaming integration (finally).

xbox-product3

It also introduces some refinements for the Xbox One controller which make it more precise than ever before, especially when playing FPS titles like the upcoming Titanfall. Unfortunately your controller won’t update itself when the console does so you need to do it manually.

Here’s a quick guide how to do it:

1. Once your Xbox One is all updated, sign into your gamertag and head to the My Games & Apps section

140305-1354-46

2.Then scroll left and down to the Apps menu

140305-1358-39

3.Before scrolling right along to the settings app

140305-1358-44

4.Once in settings you need to click the icon that says system

140305-1358-50

5.Then you should notice a new option to update controller

140305-1358-59

6.Before you hit continue you need to connect your controller to the console via a micro USB cable, any will do ( we used the one that comes with the PS4 but sssh)

IMG_3688

7.Once connected hit continue and the update will begin

140305-1359-07

8.The update itself takes just over a minute, so you can soon be back gaming

140305-1359-13

9.And that’s it you’re all done, simply repeat the process for any additional controllers

140305-1359-22

The Buyers guide to March

Finally! New games are coming out again and March is looking to be a crazy awesome month for gamers. So much so, that we at GamePointsNow thought we’d offer a little guide to the games fighting for your hard earned pennies this month.

28th February 2014

Thief (Xbox 360/Xbox One/PS3/PS4/PC)

thief-4-logo

After almost 10 years, Thief finally emerges from the shadow thanks to Deus Ex: Human Revolution developer Eidos Montreal. More of a re-imagining than a full on reboot, Thief once again sees you take on the role of master thief Garrett as you sneak and steal your way through this FPS adventure.

Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2 (PS3/Xbox 360)

Castlevania-Lords-Of-Shadow-2-3

The classic Castlevania series enters the modern day in this sequel to the awesome Castlevania: Lords of Shadow. Featuring all the action packed open world action gameplay of the original, LOS 2 also allows you to play as Dracula for the very first time as you fight your way through gorgeous environments and titanic boss battles.

7th March 2014

South Park: The Stick of Truth (PS3/360/PC)

1389899601892-South-Park-The-Stick-of-Truth

FINALLY, after several delays and publisher collapses, South Park: The Stick of Truth is actually coming out. Made in conjunction with series creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone, Obsidian’s turn based RPG set in the world of South Park is set to feature all the humour you’d expect from Cartman & co – and looks just like an actual episode of the show.

14th March 2013

Titanfall (Xbox One/PC) (Xbox 360 28/3)

Titanfall_FTF_1920x1080

All you need to know about Titanfall is that it’s from the people that brought you the original Modern Warfare. Newly formed Respawn Entertainment’s stellar looking title is an action packed FPS with mechs. After ploughing several hours in the recent beta it looks as if Titanfall could very well be something really special indeed, even if you don’t usually enjoy FPS titles.

Dark Souls 2 (360/PS3)

397325

The highly anticipated sequel to From Software’s brutal action RPG is set to provide gamers with all the challenge of the first game and more. Featuring a more powerful graphics engine and improved AI, Dark Souls 2 is set to capture fans of the series all over again.

21st March 2014

Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes (360/PS3/PS4/XBO)

MGS-GZ_PS3_packshot_RGB_PEGi_Crop

The latest in the blockbuster Metal Gear Solid series is set to act as a prologue for MGS V proper, The Phantom Pain. While initial reports claim the main game is only two hours long (we’re guessing that’s minus the cut scenes…) Kojima productions are promising plenty of side missions as well as a leaderboard feature to ensure gamers get value for money and prove this is more than an expensive demo of the main event.

inFamous: Second Son (PS4)

Infamous

Sucker Punch’s open world adventure game makes its debut on the next generation and features a whole new character to boot. Where previous protagonist Cole had one set of powers, new boy Delsin will be able to make use of multiple power sets, allowing for a whole dynamics in the series. Second Son’s developers boasts that it’s set to really take advantage of the new hardware, and judging from what we’ve seen so far it’s certainly looking that way

How to get access to WWE Network on a UK PS3/PS4 or Xbox 360

Are you a fan of the square ring and jealous of the new WWE Network service our American friends have that offers every WWE/ECW PPV event ever made?

Currently, the service is limited to the US only. I’ll show you how to trick your PS3/PS4 Xbox 360 into thinking you’re in the USA so you can access the service from the UK and you can enjoy exactly the same content.

NB: This isn’t a free service. There is no way to access the WWE Network without paying for a subscription. You will also need to subscribe to a video proxy service like Unblock-us (which you can also use for accessing the US version of Netflix)

Playstation 3/Playstation 4 UK WWE Network Instructions:

1. First off, you’re going to need to create a few accounts registered to an American address. On your PS3, create a new user profile with a new email address and register it to an American address. For this, you can enter 10 Fake Town, Fakington, Fakeshire – but make sure you enter a real postcode (90210 is always good :) )

wwe1

2. Create an account on the WWE Network website and start paying for a subscription ($9.99 per month). Note that you won’t be able to login to the WWE Network app on the PS3 until you have started a paying subscription. Again, you can use any address, the 90210 postcode and your real card details to sign up.

wwe2

3. We need to trick the PS3 into thinking that the app is running from an American IP address. We can do this by signing up with a proxy service such as Unblock-Us. It costs around $5/month. Separate setup instructions for Unblock-Us are available here. There are free alternatives, but I haven’t found any that are good enough for streaming video content.

wwe3

4. Login on your USA account on your PS3/PS4 and browse to ‘Apps’. From here, you should see WWE. Download the ~20MB app for free. You must be logged in on the American store, as it won’t feature on the UK one.

5. Once Unblock-Us is setup, make sure the region is set to USA. Otherwise, video content won’t play. You may need to reboot your router after the first time you set this up.

6. Launch the WWE app from your PS3/PS4 and login using your WWE Network login details. If you enter the incorrect details, you will get an error ‘username and password not recognised’. If you don’t yet have a paying subscription, you will get ‘Account can’t be accessed’. You MUST have a paying subscription to login to the app from now.

7. Enjoy watching grown men beat each other to a pulp! Everything should be setup and working now.

wwe4

For Xbox 360, follow the above but create a US Gamertag and find the WWE app on the US store. An Xbox One app should be coming soon!

Have you managed to sign up for WWE Network on PS3 with this? Have you had any problems? Leave a comment and let me know!

Gamecity festival is Europe’s biggest gaming culture festival. Rather than one packed event, Gamecity instead takes over a number of popular venues in and around the historic city of Nottingham. Aimed at showing videogames from a different perspective, Gamecity highlights how games can be used to teach and inspire as well as provide entertainment.

The festival features a number of events for gamers of all ages as well as some of the very best developer presentations from all corners of the gaming world.
